Yardley Hastings - An Update
Oakfield Yardley Hastings is now up and running and has dual registration with CQC for the provision of both full residential care and supported living.
The four former Homestead residents have all settled in extremely well and, following an extensive transition period, we are expecting our first supported living tenants towards the middle of October.
Having dual registration under one roof presents its challenges not least as we need to demonstrate two separate services running concurrently, including separate staffing and structure of care as well the supported living service needing to demonstrate a clear separation between accommodation and care.
The existing residents have been encouraged to take small steps towards a supported living way of life and are becoming more independent in their daily routines. Their self-contained flats with en-suite and kitchenette facilities provide this incentive towards a greater independence.
As well as being involved in local community activities such as attending church, coffee mornings and crafty companions, they continue to enjoy a wide variety of other activities of their choice such as swimming, attending college courses, horse therapy, the Good Life Project at Oakfield, trips out to shows etc.
