The Good Life Open Day 2018
Sunday 13th May, 11am until 4pm
It's that time of the year again when we open the Oakfield doors to the public to show everyone what an amazing job the residents do with growing plants and vegetables ready for sale on the big day. Oakfield has been holding open days for many years now but historically these have focused on sellling the various craft items produced by the residents in the craft room before it was finally closed down some years ago. The Good Life Project was subsequently set up in 2013 and gives the residents the opportunity to benefit from a healthy outdoor activity planting and growing produce and being able to see the results of their labours. They also benefit from assisting in the care of the animals on the project, all of which are available for sponsorship. The first Good Life Project open day was so successful that it has now become an annual event in the Oakfield calendar.
This year's open day will be starting from 11.00 a.m. and lots of opportunities will be provided to meet the residents and staff. There will be a BBQ and refreshments for sale, a raffle, live music and, of course, the opportunity for you to buy plants grown on the project ready for planting in your own gardens. You will also be able to sponsor one of our animals - from our smallest guinea pig and hens to our four shetland ponies. In return you will be provided with a photo and regular updates on your animal's progress. Further details are available on our Support Us - Sponsor page.
All items on sale have been planted and nurtured by one of our residents, supported by a member of the Good Life team. Preparation started several months ago when each seed would have been sorted, planted, watered and cared for with all money raised going back to the Good Life Project.
If you are unable to attend the Open day but would still like to support our work, you can visit the donation section on the website where we have made it as easy as possible for you to make a one off donation or to set up a regular payment to help Oakfield improve the service or plan fun filled activities for the residents.
We look forwards to seeing as many of you as possible and we thank you for all your continued support.
