Festive Season 2018

29th Nov 2018

The 2018 Festive Season is now upon us and plans are in place for a variety of activities to be enjoyed over the period.

The Christmas trees at Yardley Hastings have been resurrected from their boxes, dusted off and decorated by the people we support, ably assisted by staff members.  Further decoration of the communal areas and conservatory is also under way.

A buffet lunch is being held at Easton Maudit on Sunday 9th December from 11.30 a.m. until 2.30 p.m. to which families and friends have been invited.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to show off the completed seniors' office and medication room, the new snack bar for the people we support and the new function room.  As a charity we are committed to providing a warm and homely environment for all concerned and are looking forward to being able to continue these improvements into the New Year.

Plans are also under way for the Christmas Celebration at Yardley Hastings on Sunday 16th December where activities that have taken place over the past twelve months will be highlighted.  Guests are expected from 7.00 p.m. until 9.00 p.m. and a buffet supper will be provided.  A Christmas video in which everyone living and working at Yardley Hastings has been encouraged to participate is already under construction and will be shown at the celebration.

Trips to pantomimes and Christmas meals out are planned for December at both Yardley Hastings and Easton Maudit so December is proving to be an extremely exciting and busy month.

The invitation to the Harvest Festival at Yardley Hastings Primary School in October was enjoyed by the staff who attended with some of the people we support.  The theme was apples and goodies produced by the children and staff were auctioned off, some of which found their way into the home to be enjoyed by all.

A further contingent from Yardley Hastings was invited to Cogenhoe Junior School this week to participate in a Christmas coffee morning, which included a raffle, mince pies, shortbread and a delightful performance from the school choir.  The choir mistress has expressed a wish to bring the choir over to Oakfield in the New Year to perform for the people we support.

We still have some ends of lines in Christmas cards in stock at much reduced prices.  Copies of the brochure and a pricelist can be obtained from marion@woodallelec.co.uk or by contacting Oakfield on 01933 664222 or 01604 211115.

From all of us at Oakfield Community we wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Christmas and a new year full of hope and promise.
