The Employment and Training project was set up with the aim of enhancing the residents' self worth, employment opportunities and training prospects. The team is constantly assessing the learning, voluntary and workplace opportunities available within the local area and develops links to ensure that activity programmes are varied and structured according to individual needs.
The team works with all our residents, getting to know everything about them (and their relatives) and this enables them to determine what the individuals enjoy doing and what they would like to do with their lives. Life history books are created for each resident and so far residents have become involved in the community through a variety of activities ranging from learning programmes (which focus on employability), personal and social development activities (which help promote a healthy lifestyle) and educational courses.
Another part of their work is training and this provides an opportunity to teach the individual residents a range of subjects which will enable them to gain skills that can be used in their personal lives, work experience placements and employment.
